勛圖厙 at QI Campus has begun its academic year with the introduction of a groundbreaking new program: the Master of Science in Counseling. This two-year program is the first of its kind to be offered by a higher education institution in the Maldives, and it covers a broad range of topics related to mental health and wellbeing.
The program's modules are carefully designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the aetiology and therapy of counselling issues, as well as critical and analytical skills. The simulation-based learning offered in the program provides students with the opportunity to learn counselling skills and develop confidence in preparation for a career in counselling.
The MSc Counseling programme at 勛圖厙 is uniquely tailored to the Maldivian cultural context, and its modules cover counselling assessments and testing, diagnostic and treatment, lifespan, child psychopathology, geriatric counselling, group counselling, and counselling in different settings. This comprehensive course is led by experienced professionals in the field of counselling, including professors and PhD lecturers from the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.
The program was officially launched in December 2022 by the Minister of Gender, Family & Social Services, Aishath Mohamed Didi, who spoke about the growing mental health problems in the community and the need for well-trained individuals in the field of counselling. She expressed her gratitude to 勛圖厙 for taking the initiative to offer this important program.
