Programme Details

Introduction

The programme is for future aviation managers to build relevant skillsets and competencies required in aviation management. Some of the techniques used in the airline industry for marketing, financing, and accounting are associated with industry-specific operations. This programme covers all the significant areas of aviation management, such as planning and management of aviation operations, aviation law and practices, aviation economics and finance, aviation marketing, and airline safety and security. Throughout the programme, students will be able to propose solutions to the economic challenges facing businesses. The programme comes with a specialisation in aviation management, which will maximize the employment prospectus of graduates both locally and internationally. Upon completion, students will be able to work in and pursue further studies in the aviation industry.

General Entry Criteria

  • 2 passes in A Level/HSC (At GCE A/L, a pass is considered E and above. HSC pass is considered C and above.) OR

  • Attainment of a Level 4 qualification in a related field OR

  • Attainment of a Level 4 Foundation Study Program approved for the specific Diploma program.

Alternative Entry Criteria

  • Completion of a Level 4 qualification (unrelated), and successful completion of an MQA-approved University Preparation Program OR

  • 20 years old, completion of secondary school, 2 years of relevant work experience, and successful completion of an MQA-approved University Preparation Program

  • Undertake critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of ideas, concepts and information to address issues arising in aviation operations.

  • Acquire specialised skills required to recognise and analyse problems related to aviation and operations, and to take appropriate decisions using suitable tools and techniques.

  • Work collaboratively with others to solve problems in a range of professional-level contexts by applying relevant theories and techniques.

  • Apply high standards of conduct and ethical values in engaging in the aviation sector

(MVR 2,191 per month under government free degree scheme)

Upon successful completion of this programme participants will be able to: 

  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of the fundamentals of aviation, laws, regulations, finance, and marketing in the aviation industry.

  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of the importance of aviation safety, security, quality systems, and airport and airline management in the aviation industry.

  • Demonstrate a broad and integrated understanding of how to apply the concepts and tools in the aviation industry in solving problems in key areas.

  • Demonstrate research skills and data analysis by applying statistical and analytical tools in the related field using acquired knowledge and skills.

  • Apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate self-reliance, good judgment, adaptability and responsibility as a practitioner or learner of business management.

  • Attain independent learning skills and enthusiasm for the field.
