MVR 3,750 per month x 36 months
This programme provides content knowledge, academic knowledge and academic content knowledge to teach various topics in mathematics for secondary and higher secondary school. This includes lectures, discussions and coverage of modern concepts, appropriate learning theories, use of approaches and strategies, and use of appropriate media for teaching, such as the use of manipulative techniques, teaching aids, information technology, games and other resources. Techniques to develop higher-order thinking skills and communication skills are included when teaching various topics.
General Entry Criteria
2 passes in A Level/HSC (At GCE A/L, a pass is considered E and above. HSC pass is considered C and above) OR
Attainment of a Level 4 qualification in a related field OR
Attainment of Level 4 Foundation Study Programme approved for the specific Diploma programme.

Upon successful completion of this programme participants will be able to:Â
Demonstrate the essential content knowledge and skills to perform competently as a mathematics teacher
Understand child cognitive development, mathematics learning and higher-order thinking skills to apply mathematical reasoning skills to different contexts
Demonstrate a broad understanding of the main theories, concepts and principles of education, curriculum and pedagogy; and integrate them into a teaching environment
Apply specialised skills and professional practices to teaching environments where there is a degree of unpredictability
Use professional-level insights to evaluate and synthesize solutions to address issues related to secondary and higher secondary level teaching
Work autonomously to undertake responsibilities at the professional level in teaching and leadership and use constructive criticism
Implement an ongoing program of self-education appropriate to their personal and professional needs
