Certificate 3 in Library Services provides the knowledge and skills base required by librarians and teacher librarians, who work under direct supervision, for the effective organization, management and dissemination of information to suit wider community needs. The programme will prepare the students to perform in an increasingly technological environment. It is an entry-level qualification providing a pathway to Certificate IV and Diploma qualification.
General Entry Criteria
Completion of Basic Education (Key Stage 2 / Grade 6) OR
Attainment of a Level 2 qualification
Alternative Entry Criteria
18 years of age AND
Ability to communicate in the language of instruction.

Upon successful completion of this programme participants will be able to
Demonstrate generalized knowledge and understanding of key concepts and essential skills in library information services.
Apply relevant skills and techniques to carry out routine tasks in library services.
Use strategies to analyse, evaluate and solve simple problems related to information services as they arise at the workplace.
Apply language, mathematical and communication skills to carry out workplace tasks.
Use computer skills and applications competently for the workplace and for educational purposes.
Acquire critical thinking skills and basic research skills that are appropriate for carrying out a range of activities independently for workplace application and for study purposes.
Take leadership and responsibility in planning, organising and carrying out routine tasks with minimum supervision.
