³Ô¹ÏÍø has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Universal Resorts to launch the 7th batch of the Discover Hospitality programme—an initiative that bridges education and employment for Maldivian youth through immersive hospitality training.
Under this renewed partnership, ³Ô¹ÏÍø will continue to deliver the MQA Level 3 Certificate in Hospitality through a blended learning model: 10% classroom-based instruction at ³Ô¹ÏÍø and 90% practical training at selected Universal Resorts properties. The MOA outlines Universal Resorts’ commitment to providing industry mentorship, real-world training opportunities, and a monthly stipend for all participants to support financial accessibility and encourage broader participation.
The agreement reflects a shared commitment to:
- Strengthening local capacity in the tourism and hospitality sector
- Promoting inclusive access to education for marginalized youth
- Enhancing employability through hands-on experience in luxury resort environments
- Supporting female participation and local workforce retention
- Since its launch in 2017, Discover Hospitality has enrolled 214 students, with an 85% post-graduation employment rate and a significant rise in female enrolment—from 10.3% in the first batch to 45.5% in the most recent.
The signing of the MOA marks another milestone in empowering young Maldivians with the skills, confidence, and exposure they need to build sustainable careers in the Maldives’ world-renowned tourism industry.
