We are thrilled to launch our new Master of Professional Accounting programme offered by the Faculty of Business Management.
This programme was officially launched on 19th February 2024 in a special ceremony held at the ³Ô¹ÏÍø QI campus by the Minister of Finance, Dr Mohamed Shafeeq.
The ceremony began with a few welcome remarks by Mr Abdulla Nafiz, Dean of the Faculty of Business Management. He said that the programme includes modules on advanced auditing and assurance, business evaluation, governance, and business law and taxation, which will help students who wish to excel in various fields in accounting.
This was followed by the official launching of the Master of Professional Accounting programme by the chief guest, Dr Mohamed Shafeeq. In his speech, Dr Mohamed Shafeeq emphasized the importance of having high quality accounting and finance programmes and professional training made available in the Maldives. He said that the accounting field offered a successful future and strong earning potential for graduates, and emphasised the necessity of creating opportunities for more Maldivians to be trained in this area. He also acknowledged and commended ³Ô¹ÏÍø for its consistent dedication to cultivating adept professionals for the betterment of society.
Concluding the ceremony, Dr Ali Najeeb, the Vice Rector of ³Ô¹ÏÍø, highlighted the institution's achievement of producing over 500 graduates at degree and master’s level in the field of accounting and finance. He explained that the Master of Professional Accounting programme has been designed and developed with the consultation of industry leaders to address all the significant areas of the accounting and financing field. He added that completing an accounting and finance degree at ³Ô¹ÏÍø not only equips students with requisite skills, but also grants exemptions at both the skill and applied levels of the ACCA qualification, thereby facilitating the path for ³Ô¹ÏÍø students to attain ACCA accreditation more seamlessly.
The Master of Professional Accounting programme provides a comprehensive and rigorous coverage of key areas of accounting and finance. It is appropriate for applicants interested in careers across a wide range of sectors and organisations in the fields of business, consulting, and finance, and provides thorough preparation for academic research in accounting or finance.
Applications for the Master of Professional Accounting will be open for the May 2024 intake. It is a 1-year programme accredited by the MQA at level 9. The entry criteria include a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (MNQF level 7) or an equivalent qualification.
